It’s been a busy day today for updates to the CoCo-Pi distribution. A MAME bug fix update was posted earlier today. Since then, I have resolved some script issues, MAME ini file updates and even added a new feature (which will be covered in detail at a later date). For now, more information about this […]
New MAME 0.236-prerelease-tlindner-1 package available (bug fix)
A new version of MAME is available that contains a bug fix related to the coco3 driver and the GIME. (You would see this as a blank green screen when launching a CoCo 3 with DECB). Big thank you to Tim Lindner resolving this issue! Perform an “Update CoCo-Pi from git repo” on the Administration […]
Ron Delvaux’s picture gallery
Even though the CoCo-Pi SD card installation image comes with a collection of Ron Delvaux’s pictures, I’ve created an automated process for updating this. As Ron creates new pictures (and shares them with me) they will be made available to CoCo-Pi users. To access this, you need to update your CoCo-Pi. Perform an “Update CoCo-Pi […]

Experimental GUI Menu launcher
I’m experimenting with a new GUI based Menu launcher for CoCo-Pi. It’s not complete yet, but you are welcome to try it. Select “Update CoCo-Pi from git repo” on the Administration (Utilities) Menu and then select “Run CoCo-Pi fix script’ on the same menu. After a reboot, you should see a new icon on your […]
Raspberry Pi OS updates
It’s important to perform Raspberry Pi OS updates (separate from CoCo-Pi component updates) to ensure you are using up-to-date packages and the latest security patches. You can do this from a terminal session by issuing the following command: sudo apt update -y && sudo apt upgrade -y && sudo apt autoremove -y Performing this step […]

Perform an “Update CoCo-Pi from git repo” on the Administration (Utilities) Menu and then install the this latest package. I don’t have a change log, but there are some obvious performance improvements. Thanks, Ciaran!
CoCo-Pi & VGM Playing
While not necessarily CoCo specific, CoCo-Pi includes a couple of different Video Game Music Players (VGM). There is a command line one called VGMPlay and a GUI based called Qmmp. You will find some sample VGM files in the /media/share1/vgm folder. If you get a chance, try it out!

You’ll want to go to the Utilities and […]
PyDriveWire tutorial video added
A short video, covering the “basics” of using Michael Furmans’ PyDriveWire running on the CoCo-Pi will cover how to insert a disk into a DriveWire drive, how to boot up a CoCo using HDB DOS, making sure the Becker Port is turned “ON” and then loading software and swapping disks.
